Nas Lifes A Bitch gets the remix treatment for Illmatic XX. Illmatic celebrates its 20th birthday on April 15th, and the date will be celebrated with the release of Illmatic XX, a remastered edition of the record, complete with b-sides, remixes and rarities. Production for One Mic was handled by Nas and hip hop producer Chucky Thompson. The song samples English musician Phil Collins's In the Air Tonight. Steve Juon of RapReviews wrote that the song features a production technique previously implemented by such hip hop artists as Outkast and The Roots. That was until Mass Appeal the multimedia website, quarterly publication and record label in which Nas has invested created a contest that would allow one Nas fan to put their stamp on Illmatic.
